Shaolin Tai Chi Chuan can be translated as 'Supreme Ultimate Force'. This supreme force is associated with the Chinese concepts of 'Yin and Yang' or ones ability to see the dynamic duality of male-female, dark-light, active-passive, forceful-yielding, happy-sad, sick-healthy, life-death etc. within all things. It is a form of yoga and meditation that has been set in motion.

Tai Chi forms consist of a sequence of movements. Many of these movements were originally taken from the natural movements of insects, animals and birds. The forms are performed slow, rhythmic and graceful with smooth even transitions between each of the movements.

The focus of Tai Chi is to be used as a meditative exercise for the entire body. According to Chinese medicine there exists within us a vital force of 'Qi' or 'Chi' that animates our bodies. Tai Chi fosters the circulation of this 'Chi' within our bodies so our health and vitality will be enhanced. The Chi circulates and heals the body internally.

Tai Chi develops a more calm and tranquil mind, health and longevity, mental focus, self control, self discipline, enhanced balance, alignment, fine-scale motor control, rhythm of movement etc.

Through its practice, it contributes to being able to better, stand, walk and run as well as enhance our daily physical life. Many students notice benefits of correcting poor body posture, poor alignment or movement patterns which are due to mental tension or from physical injuries.

Tai Chi heals and strengthens the individual from the inside out. Long term practice of this internal style can create amazing benefits that in time, will add great internal and external strength.  Training in its slow water like movements after years of practice a person can become very powerful.

The health and healing benefits from practicing this system will last a lifetime! Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong are the highest, most powerful forms of training at the Temple. This comes from a time tested system of science that is over 1,500 years old!
